21 Jun Lorde Compares Hanging out with Taylor Swift to Being Friends with Someone Who Has an ‘Autoimmune Disease’
We’ve learnt a lot about Lorde since she emerged onto the music scene in 2013. We know that she’ll never be Royal, cos it don’t run in her blood. We’ve heard that she likes to talk over problems with a heart-to-heart on a Tennis Court. And, of course, we found out last week that for a limited time only she – rather bizarrely – ran a top secret Instagram account where she rated every single onion ring that she came across. But recently we’ve found out something else about our favourite New Zealand singer-songwriter: she can’t half put her foot in her mouth sometimes.
This revelation can be traced back to an interview Lorde did with The Guardian where she was asked about the difficulty of maintaining a close friendship with celebrities, such as superstar Taylor Swift, who became one of the Royals singer’s besties after the pair hit it off after a performance in 2013.
While if others were asked about the trials and tribulations of being friends with possibly the most famous person in the world at the moment, they would shrug, smile and say something vague like “it’s hard, but we get through it”, Lorde managed to spark the anger of thousands of people across the world when she stated that being friends with Taylor is like being friends with a person with an autoimmune disease.
