25 Jul Man Freaks Out When Glass Walkway 3,800 Feet In The Air “Cracks”

Are you scared of heights? If the answer to this question is a yes, then you’re not alone. Otherwise known as acrophobia, it’s believed to affect 7.8% of people, and it’s quite an understandable fear to have. After all, there are few deaths as swift or as painful as falling, and for some people, acrophobia can make even simple tasks like climbing a ladder near impossible.

So, if you’re one of the many people affected by acrophobia, you might want to avoid the East Taiheng Glasswalk in the Hubei province of China. Situated a whopping 3,800 feet in the air, visitors are treated to some of the best views in China, but for anyone with acrophobia, well, there’s an additional sensory feature that will make it their worst nightmare.

But even if you’re not particularly scared of heights, this bridge is undoubtedly a challenge. It’s been scientifically proven that the higher up in the air someone is, the more likely they are to display symptoms associated with vertigo.

If you’ve never experienced this unpleasant sensation before, let me explain. Vertigo is characterized by feeling like everything around you is spinning. It’s a lot more than just feeling dizzy and those affected by it often struggle to stand up.

This picture highlights how high the East Taiheng Glasswalk is, and writing as someone who doesn’t have a particular problem with heights, I have to admit that the prospect of looking through a see-through floor onto that drop would bother me.

But to make matters worse, it’s got glass panels which “crack” when tourists walk over them…

So, picture this, you’re quite confident that you’re not scared of heights and decide to take a trip to the glasswalk with your girlfriend. Together, you happily stroll along the glass panels, enjoying the view, when suddenly CRACK.

Like any logical person, you’d automatically assume that you were about to fall 3,800 feet to your untimely death and freak out.

This is exactly what happened to the man above, who recently went viral after his reaction to the “cracking” glass panels was filmed. However, he is simply one of many people to have a hilarious reaction to this terrifying sensory trick.

The horrifying “cracking” is achieved using a combination of sensors and special effects, and while we can all agree that the result is hilarious, no one with a heart condition should be allowed to walk over it otherwise they might actually die.

But this is not the only hilarious example of a brilliant sensory trick. In a Washington aquarium, a man got a lot more than he bargained for when he – channeling his inner Dudley Dursley – decided to tap the glass on a shark’s tank.

Instead of simply perturbing the fish inside, he, quite literally, got the fright of his life when a large shark, presumably a great white, came rushing towards him. His reaction is arguably funnier than that of the guy above on the glasswalk.

Well, to be honest, I think he deserved it. Animals shouldn’t be used for our entertainment, and he was deliberately trying to provoke the shark. Maybe now he’ll think twice before deciding to terrorize some other poor animal!

One thing’s for sure, I’m just going to avoid glass tourist attractions point blank. I don’t think my heart could handle them!
