Netflix May Just Be About To Get More Expensive And People Aren’t Happy

In the past few years, Netflix has become a fundamental part of human existence. With 94 million active users in America alone, it’s safe to say that the streaming service is an integral element of the country’s culture.

With thousands of popular shows available on demand, it’s easy to see why it has such a huge following. Not only that, but it’s affordable.

For just a few dollars a month, you can access some of the world’s most loved shows, such as Friends, Stranger Things and Black Mirror. You can catch award-winning documentaries, and cult classics such as When Harry Met Sally, The Breakfast Club and The Shawshank Redemption.

As a result of Netflix’s original productions, such as House of Cards, 13 Reasons Why, The Crown and Orange Is The New Black, it can easily feel as though you’re missing out if you don’t have an account.

You can easily be left feeling as shut out as Will Byers when the Demogorgon is living inside of him – but, of course, you’d only understand that if you watch Stranger Things. See what I mean?!

But, whilst Netflix may have a reputation for being the bait used by frat boys to lure girls into bed, it is so much more than that.

Especially if you use these secret codes which help you to unlock loads of hidden shows…

For example, when my grandfather was sick in hospital, I downloaded Netflix on my iPad for him so that he could watch a documentary on historic castles in England. He enjoyed it so much that he watched it three times from his hospital bed that night after I’d gone home.

So, for moments like that, you really can’t put a price on Netflix.

Although, according to rumor, the price of Netflix really could soon be something you notice.

According to Italian blog Tutto Android, Netflix is soon to launch several different price plans for their services.

Currently, there are three different price plans available: Basic ($7.99), Standard ($10.99) and Premium ($13.99).

The differences between the three are only minimal, however, the introduction of the Ultra plan could change that.

According to Tutto Android, the Ultra plan will only be available in Europe. It will cost €16.99 ($19.77) and the only feature that it will offer is the ability to watch shows in HDR mode – which, of course, will require compatible hardware.

There will allegedly also be changes made to the Standard and Premium plans, with customers having fewer screens on which to view their shows.

Currently, with the Standard plan, you can watch Netflix on two different screens, which is perfect if you share your account with friends and family. However, this is supposedly set to change with the Standard plan now only allowing viewing on one screen.

Similarly, Premium will reportedly only allow viewing on two screens opposed to four.

So, whilst the prices of the existing plans aren’t thought to be set to increase, they will lose some value for existing customers.

Netflix is yet to confirm any of these changes, however. So for now, it is unclear if any of this is true.

However, if it does transpire to be true, there will no doubt be a great deal of outrage from those who support the service.
