28 Jun Kylie Jenner Opens Up About Her Famous Lips In A Candid Makeup Tutorial For Vogue

There are few things in this world which ignite quite as much discussion as Kylie Jenner’s lips. In fact, it probably takes the government less time to debate life-changing laws than it does for people to argue the truth about Kylie’s lips.

It’s true. We are a world obsessed with the Kardashians.

Since 2007, the Kardashian clan have essentially established themselves as America’s unofficial monarchy, and whether we like it or not, we all bow down to them.

But would they have been able to infiltrate our minds so intensely if it wasn’t for their cosmetically crafted features? Would Kim Kardashian be one of the most famous faces on the planet if it were not for her bulbous behind? Would Kylie have become a multi-millionaire whilst still a teenager if it wasn’t for Kim’s peachy posterior and her own plump pout? Probably not.

Could an ordinary person reach the same level of notoriety if they simply injected silicone into various parts of their body? Probably not.

Whether we like to admit it or not, the Kardashians possess some sort of quality that the human race cannot resist.

It’s the reason why Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kits sold out in seconds when they launched in 2015, generating an epic $420 million in revenue for Kylie Cosmetics within its first 18 months.

With money like that in the bank and millions of adoring fans, it’s easy to assume that Kylie is the most satisfied and confident person on the planet. However, that is not the case, as the 20-year-old freely admits.

“I still feel insecure all the time,” the California-born star once revealed. “I wake up every morning at, like, seven or eight because I think that there’s a bad story about me, and I have to check. My worst fear is waking up and finding something bad about me on the Internet.”

Having been in the spotlight since she was nine-years-old, it’s true that Kylie hasn’t had a normal childhood. Which may explain why she has always been so insecure about her appearance – specifically her lips.

Kylie recently opened up about these insecurities in a video shoot for Vogue‘s YouTube channel.

In the relaxed clip, the makeup mogul casually applies her makeup whilst talking about her favorite products and the ways in which she applies them. Inbetween her demonstration, the new mother provides some rare insight into her life by discussing her newborn daughter, Stormi, and the inspiration behind her cosmetics brand.

“Hey guys, it’s Kylie Jenner for anyone who doesn’t know,” the LA-based star begins, before launching into her experiences with makeup. “My mom always let me wear makeup before my dad did,” she says with a smile. “He didn’t really want me to wear makeup, but my mom always let me be creatively wild and go to my sixth-grade class with purple eyeshadow.”

She then pensively continues: “I haven’t thought about letting Stormi wear makeup. I mean, I am going to let her wear makeup, but when is the question.”

As the reality star moves on to her lips, she reflects on how her business began:

“I had Kylie Lip Kit trademarked, like, two years before it even launched and I was, like, bugging my mom about it. I was like, ‘I need to do this’ and she was like, ‘okay, put up your own money, stop talking about the lip kit’.

I didn’t even, like, order a lot and my mom was like, ‘if this doesn’t work out you’re going to have a lot of Lip Kits in your garage’.

Then, I didn’t even make it to my launch party. I, like, refreshed the page and in two seconds everything was gone and I just remember me, and all my glam people and my friends were, like, screaming.

I was like, this is going to be something that I can actually do. Yeah, like Kendall is modelling all over the world and that was always her dream, and then, just finally finding something that was mine and that I loved was, like, the best feeling in the world.

When I was insecure about my lips, I turned to makeup to help me feel more confident.”

Despite having revealed a great deal of information about her personal life, Kylie continued to open up for Vogue. Answering one of the most frequently asked questions, Kylie then goes on to discuss the rivalry between herself and her half-sister Kim Kardashian, whose makeup line, KKW has often been seen as a direct competitor of Kylie Cosmetics.

“Me and Kim do not compete, a lot of people think we might, but we just really like making completely different products and we both enjoy each other’s stuff. So, it’s just, the more makeup the better,” Kylie explains.

Considering that the two sisters have previously collaborated on a makeup collection, it’s safe to say that they really do just “enjoy” each other’s stuff.

The video was met with mixed reviews from Kylie’s fans, who flooded the comments section to voice their opinions – one of the main issues being Kylie’s continued refusal to admit that she’s had extensive surgery.

There were those who supported her…

“Kylie managed to become the most likeable in the sisters throughout the years. I never thought I’d find her the most ‘real’ compared to her sisters,” wrote ArtofDylan.

“People can say whatever, but this woman’s mama taught her how to be a millionaire using what she loves which is make-up. She is beautiful and her makeup doesn’t look all caked up. It looks really neat and clean. She looks like her mom and sister,” typed Get Out Of Your Way.

And, then there were those who had a lot of questions…

“She forgot to mention one tip to achieve confidence… 100 thousand dollar eyelid, lips, cheekbone, breast and butt surgery. What a joke, I only think about the damage young teenage girls will suffer because of videos like this trying to achieve through makeup what only plastic surgery can give you,” wrote Jack Mcfee

“Why her lips like that?? Looks like Joker’s lips [to be honest] but I love her tho, I just find her lips creepy,” wrote Lexi I.

“I wish for her to see that she doesn’t need anymore of that filler crap…it’s ruining her natural beauty…” said Z N.

“I can’t shake the fact that she has botox, chin implant, eyebrow lift, jaw line threads and an EXUUUUBERANT amount of lip fillers at only 20!!”  wrote Ms. Essential List.

The video has helped to prove that, whilst Kylie may be one of the most famous people on the planet, she is also incredibly real and relatable.
