Guy Shares An Interesting Story About The Woman From The ‘Distracted Boyfriend’ Meme

To say the internet has done a lot for us over the last few decades would be a huge understatement. It has given us a means of research, platforms on which to connect with people from all over the world, and most importantly, it has brought us plenty of entertainment.

From watching hours upon hours of content on video-sharing sites like YouTube to our addictive tendency to stalk the social media profiles – the entertainment is endless.

One of the best things to come out of internet are videos of people “destroying” those who say stupid things on the internet:

But do you know what I, personally, think is the most engaging form of content on the web? Memes.

Memes – simple though they are – are some of the best recent phenomena to gain traction on the internet.

And why are they so incredible, you ask? Well, they have this amazing way of bringing people together simply because they’re just so damn relatable.

They allow ordinary people to show off their comedic abilities to the world with a few simple words on a recognizable and widely-shared image.

They’re also great because, somehow with memes, nothing’s off-limits. Humor that is often considered offensive and overly risque on other platforms are considered acceptable in meme format.

Another great thing about memes is how adaptable the images are. Take the ‘Distracted Boyfriend’ meme, for instance. You know, the one where the guy walking with his girlfriend shamelessly turns back to check out another woman, much to the annoyance of his significant other.

Since becoming viral about a year ago, people have used it as a template from which to share jokes and humorously relatable opinions.

Here’s a nice little political meme for you:

A play on the concept of memes:

The solar eclipse is a pretty enviable phenomenon:

The ultimate dilemma:

Yep, the ‘distracted boyfriend’ meme is hugely popular and, let’s face it, we’re never going to run out of relevant jokes to use.

But although most of you will have seen versions of this meme, you probably never gave much thought to who the individuals in the original image even are.

Well, Twitter user Ernie Smith took it upon himself to find out a little bit about the jealous girlfriend featured in the internet’s favorite meme…

This is real-life Carla Ramos, the model featured in the ‘distracted boyfriend’ meme:

LADBible spoke to Ramos and her “distracted boyfriend” – a model called Mario – about the success of the meme.

“For me, it was a curious and funny photo shoot,” Ramos said, “Especially when we had to make the photos like the meme, more humorous. When people saw us simulate those scenes in the street, they stopped to look and laugh and, in my case that I had to have a more serious face, I had a hard time to keep it.”

But after doing some research, Ernie Smith noticed there was so much more to Ramos than just being angry at her boyfriend.

If the rest of her stock photos are anything to go by, the woman is in a state of perpetual shock.

Here are Ramos’ other shocked stock photos:

“She’s easily shocked when looking at screens,” Smith wrote. “I mean, really shocked.”

But you should probably know if you’re considering photoshopping any of these images, the photographer, Antonio Guillem, is very protective over his models.

“What really worries us and we are not going to allow it… is the use of the images in a pejorative, offensive or any way that can harm the models or me,” Guillem told INSIDER. “I’m talking, for example, about the image where their faces are changed by a dog face, a garbage bag, and a dog food bag.”

But Ernie is right, Ramos is shocked most of her time:

She’s shocked sat at all alone at home:

She’s shocked looking at laptop screens with her friends:

She’s shocked looking at her phone whilst walking down the street in a red coat:

She’s shocked looking at her phone on the beach:

She’s shocked looking at her phone screen whilst paying for a coffee:

She’s shocked looking at somebody else’s phone:

She’s shocked looking at her papers:

She’s shocked looking at papers in the office:

She’s shocked looking at her phone outdoors:

She’s shocked looking at laptop screens:

She’s shocked looking at laptop screens with her friends whilst drinking coffee:

So there you have it: it turns out that appearing in stock images is an actual job. Where do I sign up?
