The Surprising Cast Behind The Animated Characters In ‘The Incredibles 2’

When it comes to the wonderful world of animated movies, Pixar is in a league of its own, and one of its best-loved creations is The Incredibles. Released in 2004, it gave a whole new meaning to the superhero genre, with the world’s first ever superfamily.

The animation giants recently made a sequel to the equally brilliant Finding Nemo from 2003, and now The Incredibles is finally getting a sequel, much to the delight of fans around the world (and the Pixar lamp). What’s more is that it’s being released this month!

Fourteen years on from the original, the cast has changed a lot, even though their on-screen counterparts haven’t aged a day, and to celebrate the release of The Incredibles 2, we have compiled a list of what they look like now next to their animated characters.

1. Holly Hunter as Helen Parr/Elastigirl

The matriarch of the Incredible family is Southern belle Holly Hunter. The Georgia-born star has lent her voice to more than a view projects and has worked on everything from broadcast news to the 2017 hit movie The Big Sick.

2. Craig T. Nelson as Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible

Voiced by Craig T. Nelson (who also voiced Mr. Incredible in the first movie), in the sequel, Mr. Incredible’s life has changed quite a bit, having traded in his super suit for a dishtowel. Some of Nelson’s notable roles have been in The Family StoneParenthood, and Poltergeist.

3. Sarah Vowell as Violet Parr

Oklahoma-born star Sarah Vowell is best-known for her segments on This American Life – a show which she has lent her voice to since 1996. This isn’t the first time that Vowell has voiced Violet, she’s also done it in a number of Disney video games.

4. Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone

Obviously, Samuel L. Jackson is playing a superhero – Frozone also happens to be one of Mr. Incredible’s closest allies, so he’s a good guy too. This isn’t the only superhero role to Jackson’s name, however, and he also plays Nick Fury in the Avengers franchise.

5. Huck Milner as Dash

If you’re a young aspiring actor, then obviously getting your first role in a Pixar movie is a pretty big deal, and that’s exactly the case for Huck Milner, who is voicing Dash. The character was voiced by Spencer Fox in the first Incredibles movie.

6. Bob Odenkirk as Winston Deavor

Unlike most of the other voice actors in the movie, Bob Odenkirk actually looks like his animated counterpart. Ten out of ten, Pixar.

7. Catherine Keener as Evelyn Deavor

Needless to say, this role is a world away from the hypnotherapist Keener played in Get Out, but we think she’s a great fit for the role.

8. Sophia Bush as Voyd

The franchise has some new stars for its sequel and one of them is Voyd, voiced by Chicago P.D. and One Tree Hill alum Sophia Bush.

9. Brad Bird as Edna Mode

Yes, Edna is actually voiced by a man, and what’s more is that Brad Bird is also the director is the director of both of the Incredibles movies.

So there you have it – nine of The Incredibles 2 characters with their real-life counterparts. With a mix of big-name stars and some breakout actors on this list, it’s safe to say that Pixar fans are in for a treat – I just hope that this sequel isn’t the last we hear of the superfamily!
