There are few things in life as exhilarating as watching live sports. You get to experience your team’s highs and lows, and, better still, there is no way of knowing what will happen – something which thrust this San Diego Padres fan into viral fame.

Gabby DiMarco unintentionally became an online sensation after she caught a foul ball in her beer while watching her hometown team the San Diego Padres get owned by the Atlanta Braves. It was during this game that Ender Inciarte hit a high foul into the stands.

After catching the ball, Gabby proudly held her beer cup in the air for Petco Park’s Jumbotron, then she did the most American thing ever. So American, in fact, that the young woman has now received marriage proposals because of her actions.

“It bounced from behind me,” DiMarco told MLB.com. “I wasn’t trying to catch it at all, and it landed in my cup.”

As the video above hilariously demonstrates, Gabby decided to chug her India pale ale after catching the foul ball. What made her action even more brilliant was that she didn’t even bother to take the ball out of her cup while doing it, causing her to receive the “biggest ovation of the night”.

Now, I know we’re not supposed to talk about people being “perfect”, but Gabby may just be the perfect woman.

Needless to say, the crowd went wild. After all, what are the chances of something like that happening?

I would have been taken so off guard, I wouldn’t have been quick enough to do something as cool as to chug my beer. I’m probably just awkwardly smile and wave to the cameras.

Recalling what it felt like to catch the ball against the odds to Insider, Gabby said, “I felt like I had just won the lotto.”

“I have received many messages and comments asking for my hand in marriage, saying I am the perfect woman.”

“I have also received many Facebook requests as well. My family and friends are blown away.”

“I hope people will see that you never know when you could get lucky and that everything happens for a reason,” she continued to Insider. “I am thankful to have brought a smile to people’s faces and to have been a part of positive news in light of what is going on in the world. This shows that sports can bring people together.”

So while the San Diego Padres might not have won the game, it just goes to show that you can still emerge a victor even if you aren’t supporting the winning team!
