This Is The Woman Behind The Voice Of Apple’s Siri

One of the most recognizable voices in the world is that of Apple’s Siri. Since 2011, the virtual assistant has been answering our questions on just about every topic. However, virtually nothing is known about Siri herself. Surprisingly, she’s not computer generated, but an actual woman.

In 2017 alone, 216.76 million iPhones were sold, making Siri one of the most listened to voices in the world. So, to all extents and purposes, she is a celebrity in and of herself, and in an interview with CNN, the voiceover artist behind her finally decided to reveal Siri’s true identity.

What’s more is that she doesn’t sound like you would expect her to. Check out the video below to hear her for yourself:

Despite revealing herself so publically, Susan Bennett, the voiceover artist, has not had her claim corroborated by Apple – although it has been confirmed as absolutely true by an audio-forensics expert and those who represent the 68-year-old legally.

Siri, however, is not Bennett’s only claim to fame. She’s also worked as a voiceover artist on ads for some of the world’s most recognizable brands including Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Macy’s, and Cartoon Network.

“I really had to weigh the importance of it for me personally,” she said of voicing Siri, TNW reported. “I wasn’t sure that I wanted that notoriety, and I also wasn’t sure where I stood legally. And so, consequently, I was very conservative about it for a long time.”

But as Siri’s fame grew, so did the number of people wanting to know who she really was, and Bennett finally decided to reveal herself in 2013.

“It seemed like everyone was clamoring to find out who the real voice behind Siri is, and so I thought, well, you know, what the heck? This is the time,” she said.

And there you have it – the face (and true voice) behind the voice so many of us hear every day!
