26 Apr Woman Meets Mom-To-Be On Plane And Three Days Later Receives Astonishing Call About The Baby

Traveling somewhere by plane may seem like a pretty mundane activity – especially if you’re just flying cross country – but that’s not always the case. If you’re traveling solo, you never know who you’re going to sit next to, or how that person might end up impacting your future in ways you’d never imagined possible.

This particular story happened after a chance encounter on a flight. Samantha Snipes, who was heavily pregnant with a baby boy, sat in the seat next to Temple Phipps, then a total stranger, about a year and a half ago.

Snipes, who was 24 at the time, had been in an abusive relationship with the father of her unborn child. But in spite of the many chances Snipes had given her boyfriend, the physical abuse continued.

Soon enough, she decided it was time to leave so she packed her bags and left Arkansas for North Carolina.

“I was scared and insecure and I wasn’t even sure how to live on my own at that point,” Snipes recalled.

While Snipes was fearful and unsure as to whether or not she was ready to be a parent, Phipps was a 42-year-old woman who desperately wanted to become a mother. She had already sought options from adoption agencies and had considered becoming a foster parent. However, as she was a single woman, this was proving to be much more difficult than she had anticipated.

On the plane, Snipes ending up sitting next to Phipps; the pair instantly hit it off and a deep emotional connection developed between them.

“Nervous as I was about the flight, I found comfort in getting to know her. We only had an hour together, but I felt as if we had been friends for years,” Snipes recalled.

During the short flight, Snipes opened up about the difficult decision she had made about putting her child up for adoption. Phipps confessed that while she had always wanted to start a family, the opportunity never arose.

“I’m still in disbelief when I tell the story, or when I think about it,” Temple Phipps explained to WRAL.

“Through the course of the discussion, she shared that she was concerned about what she was going to do,” Phipps added.

When the plane landed in North Carolina, the women decided to exchange phone numbers. Phipps told Snipes to call her if she ever found herself in a difficult situation.

Just three days later after the pair met and three weeks premature, Snipes gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

But something just wasn’t right – she knew the baby didn’t feel like her child, and she knew that there was someone who could care for him better than she could.

So, the next day, Snipes dialed Phipp’s number and told the woman – who had been a mere stranger less than a week ago – that she’d had the baby and now there was something she needed to tell her.

Phipps responded by rushing to the hospital and as soon as she walked through the doors, her life changed beyond recognition…
