Woman Claims Swimming Nude In Freezing Water Is Her “Fountain Of Youth”

This time of year, plenty of us who live in cold climates are eagerly awaiting spring’s arrival. We’ve had enough of winter, snow, and freezing temperatures and long for those warm summer nights by the lake.

However, one woman from Ukraine, named Inna Vladimirskaya, never wants winter to end! She says the freezing water temperatures throughout the winter actually hold a very significant beauty secret!

Vladimirskaya swears by swimming naked through freezing cold waters and claims that it has kept her feeling and looking young. Whether it was the water or not, she certainly does have a good figure and positive outlook!

She has been running and flocking through the frigid waters every weekend for the past nine years! Vladimirskaya, whose actual age is 32, looks like she could be in her mid-twenties and claims there is a scientific reason for her practice.

This is something that many Russians actually do. Don’t believe me? Check out the video below:

“Immersion in cold water makes the blood rush to the internal organs, activating their circulation, which helps break down fat and improve muscle tone,” she says. “The walrus looks much younger than its actual age because it spends so much time in cold water.”

Well, I don’t know how old walruses are supposed to look, but it sounds interesting. Though it should be noted that humans and walruses certainly have different tolerances for the cold.

“Humans can reap the same benefits if they are prepared to put the hard work in. I just make sure I don’t stay in the water too long, and as soon as I am out I dry myself and go straight to my warm car,” Vladimirskaya added.

It is important to note that humans cannot tolerate unprotected exposure to freezing temperatures for long. This is especially true of extremely cold water. Mike Tipton, a leading expert of cold water survival, explains:

“Cold water shock is one of the biggest stresses that you can place the body under. Cold water kills and it kills quickly. If you are lucky enough to survive long enough to die of hypothermia, you have done very well – most die in the first minute of immersion.

“Our instinctive response to sudden immersion in cold water – thrashing and swimming hard – is potentially a killer.

“It increases chances of water entering your lungs at a time when your breathing is out of control and you are gasping for air, cold water increases the strain on your heart, cools the skin further and lets air escape from any clothing, which then reduces buoyancy.”

While total immersion in cold water is extremely dangerous, Vladimirskaya isn’t the only person to believe in the benefits of short-term or partial exposure.

But this is a practice many people in Russia swear by. In fact, as part of their school day, several children are taken outside barefoot in the snow, dressed only in underwear and told to dump large buckets of water over their heads. Russians believe that pouring cold water over mostly naked children while outside in the snow will actually prevent catching a cold or the flu.

Sure makes me glad I grew up in a country where warm coats, mittens, and boots were the outdoor requirements at school!
