20 Jun Airport Security Workers Reveal the Weirdest Things They Ever Found in Passengers’ Luggage
Working at an airport must be a fascinating way to make a living.
Reserved to most of us for business or holiday travel, aviation is, of course, huge business, and therefore requires a lot of staff working hard to keep everything safely running.
In recent years, security measures at airports have tightened considerably in the wake of devastating attacks on aircrafts, as well as the rise of terrorism. While a solemn and highly important job, it would be fair to say that airport security staff get their fair share of abuse from stressed passengers; the process is rightly a rigorous one, but that does mean that getting through security can take a considerable amount of time.
The whole procedure is not helped, of course, by many passengers’ blithe ignorance of the rules, despite the many advertising posters and video messages that explain, in great detail, what one is and is not allowed to bring aboard a flight.
In fact, the Mirror reports that almost half of all items confiscated by security staff are made up of knives, toy guns and flammable liquids; all highly publicised no-go objects.
Apart from all of the usual too-large liquid bottles and cutlery though, Jetcost.co.uk has put together a list of some of the strangest things airport security workers have had to confiscate while on the job.
