16 Jun “Bachelor in Paradise” Contestants Corinne Olympios and Demario Jackson Have Spoken out about the Incident
The production of the fourth season of the dating show Bachelor In Paradise is shaping up to be one of the biggest controversies in the history of reality TV. Sure, reality shows have always been on the edge when it comes to their content, but this is one of the only times that filming has actually stopped as a result of something unexpected occurring during preproduction.
For those of you who missed the news, on Sunday 11 June, Warner Bros. Studios confirmed that the fourth season of the Mexican beachside spin-off of The Bachelor has been indefinitely postponed, following an alleged incident of sexual misconduct on the part of two cast members. It later emerged that Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson had engaged in intimate acts with each other in the pool while heavily intoxicated.
This incident occurred just before the studio was about to start filming, but as a result of the sexual indiscretion the cast was put in lockdown. An ABC spokesperson later stated:
“We have become aware of allegations of misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico. We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action.”
However, the biggest issue lay with the two cast members. She does not blame DeMario, but Olympios has made clear that she intends to sue the production company for failing to intervene at the time, given that she was not lucid enough to fully consent to any sexual activity. Now DeMario and Olympios have finally agreed to open up about the events of June 4, which may well have buried the Bachelor for good.
