16 Jun BREAKING: Armed Police Respond to Disturbance at Houses of Parliament

The Houses of parliament in Westminster, London, are currently in lockdown after armed police officers apprehended and arrested a man on the street nearby.

Images taken by bystanders at the scene scene of the incident appear to show an unknown male being pinned to the ground by police officers in the process of fixing handcuffs to him. The carriage gates leading into the headquarters of the British government have since been closed.

Reports from witnesses at the scene have alleged that the officers, armed with stab-proof vests and handguns, ran from guard posts at the grounds of parliament and tasered the individual. It has also been reported that they cried out loud: “Knife, knife, knife!”

Police later confirmed that a man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of carrying a bladed weapon. This alarming incident occurred not far away from the spot where terrorist Khalid Masood carried out a rampage at Westminster Bridge, killing a police officer and four other people.
