Antonia is just 20 years old, but she suffers from a rare and debilitating disease called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. This causes defects in the tissues that connect Antonia’s skin, bones, blood vessels, and organs.

Her joints dislocate easily, her internal organs can split and tear, and her brain is slowly being crushed by the weight of her own skull. She must be resuscitated multiple times each day and is in constant pain.

Any sudden fall could cause her neck to break, and if she is left untreated, the ligaments in her neck will weaken to the point that she will no longer be able to support her head. This is why she needs lifesaving surgery, but sadly her home country of the UK does not fund the procedure.
