01 Aug 9-Year-Old With Down’s Syndrome Goes Absolutely Viral With Incredible Whitney Houston Cover
Down’s Syndrome as defined by the charity Down’s Syndrome Association is “caused by the presence of an extra chromosome in a baby’s cells. In the majority of cases, Down’s syndrome is not an inherited condition. Down’s syndrome usually occurs because of a chance happening at the time of conception”.
What causes the occurrence of that extra chromosome remains unclear, and the Down’s Syndrome Association advises that there is no method to predict the likelihood, though there is a “definite link with advanced maternal age”.
While there are societal steps yet to be taken, the quality of life that those with Down’s Syndrome enjoy in our modern culture is considerably better than in previous generations, as awareness and acceptance continue to improve. Indeed, more individuals with Down’s Syndrome than ever before are leaving home and getting jobs, according to the Down’s Syndrome Association.
While such an occurrence is still some way away for nine-year-old Dane Miller, he has already captured the hearts of millions – and looks to be something of a burgeoning pop star – after a video of him singing Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing made waves online.
