Oh to be young and free of responsibility. Those heady days of yore in which choosing an ice cream was the most pressing issue of the day and bills were a disparate concept to which one payed no heed – how joyous it would be to return there.

The days where there was even a remote possibility of me being a professional football player are well and truly behind me, but that doesn’t stop me dreaming. For the young, though, the world is truly a glistening oyster of endless possibilities, a place in which dreams seem an attainable reality rather than a laughable and rather desperate fantasy.

Perhaps this is why older generations are occasionally confounded by their youthful counterparts, mystified by their eternal optimism for the future and adoption of new fads that simply do not make sense to their parents.
