28 Totally Bizarre Things People Have Tried to Get Through Airport Security

I don’t think it’s too controversial an opinion to say that air travel is really stressful. The technology has improved exponentially over the past decade or so and it’s never been easier, but there are still many huge inconveniences that I just cannot abide, and airport security ranks pretty highly on my list of pet peeves.

After many hours spent packing, panicking and rushing to the airport, the last thing I need is a jaded security man frisking me and seizing all of my liquid possessions before I board the aircraft.

I’d imagine it’s much harder on their side, though; since the September 11th attacks, airports are much more vigilant about what people are allowed to bring onto the plane, and the tightened security has definitely had an effect. Sometimes, you can argue it’s a little excessive, but these seized possessions found at airports across the United States show how difficult (and strange) it can be to work in airport security.

1. I don’t know why would want to bring a hubcap with you anywhere…

2. Dead endangered seahorses (in a repurposed champagne bottle)

3. Ay chihuahua!

4. Eels on a plane make for a slippery situation

5. These innocuous-looking packages are actually covertly smuggled parrots
