09 Jan 27-Year-Old Cancer Victim Pens Open Letter That Will Make You Change The Way You Live Your Life
When Holly Butcher was 26-years-old she received some news that would change her life indefinitely. Despite being at peak physical health with plenty of ambitions to fuel her future, Holly was told she had cancer.
By January 3, Holly knew that her cancer was in its final stages. Having witnessed the turn of the New Year, the Australian native penned a heartfelt message which she posted on her Facebook page. In the open letter, she educated her friends and family on how to live their life. The following day, at 27-years-old, Holly passed away.
Since being published, Holly’s letter has gone viral around the world as her words resonated deep in people’s hearts…
“It’s a strange thing to realize and accept your mortality at 26 years young,” she began. “I always imagined myself growing old, wrinkled and grey – most likely caused by the beautiful family (lots of kiddies) I planned on building with the love of my life. I want that so bad it hurts,” she wrote.
“That’s the thing about life; It is fragile, precious and unpredictable and each day is a gift, not a given right,” she reminded her friends and family, before adding: “I’m 27 now. I don’t want to go. I love my life. I am happy.. I owe that to my loved ones. But the control is out of my hands.”
Continuing, she began to provide life advice to those reading based upon what she’d learned while “pondering” the “inevitability” of her death. “I just want people to stop worrying so much about the small, meaningless stresses in life and try to remember that we all have the same fate after it all so do what you can to make your time feel worthy and great, minus the bullshit,” she typed.
