They say that humanity has grown as a species over the course of our existence, but I think there are plenty of ways in which we stay completely the same. Regardless of whether you were born in 1992 or 92 BC, some experiences are just universal. We’ve all gone through the pain of loss, the euphoria of love, or the nervous anticipation of a new home.

That’s what I love about art; no matter what I’m going through, I can find a book, song or painting that will reflect that very same mood, allowing me to travel time through the unique sensation of empathy. These art pieces may have been made hundreds of years ago, but that doesn’t mean they can’t perfectly encompass the human condition, or relate to your life today.
