Humor can often be found in the most unexpected places. Most of us visit gas stations at least once a week, but it turns out that the people who run them are our country’s secret comedians. Gas stations are full of signs, and their workers have definitely used them to their advantage!

From hilarious puns to some self-deprecating comedy, gas station signs have been used to make the most mundane everyday tasks funny. What’s more, is that they’re being used as brilliant marketing tools. I’d definitely be more willing to stop for gas at a station with a funny sign.

If you’ve ever worked in retail, then you’ll know that unexpected delays happen all the time. Whilst stores try their best to run a smooth operation, life happens. So try not to get too angsty the next time you have to wait a little longer for gas.

2. Marketing at its finest…

America’s roads have been home to countless high speed chases, and this gas station’s workers have decided to play on this fact brilliantly. The police car in the background is a nice touch. I’ll have four pack of Resse’s Cups and a Pepsi for the road please!

3. Ouch. What a burn…

It’s no secret that smoking is unhealthy, but at gas stations it can be life-threatening; not just for you, but for everyone else around you. This gas station’s workers decided to subtly encourage their customers to quit whilst simultaneously ensuring they don’t get blown up!

4. Because everybody loves bacon…

Drive along any highway, and you’ll see countless opportunities to enjoy a few sizzling slices of bacon – whether it’s at an iHop or a Wendy’s. In a world where people are being encouraged to grow their own food, many are despairing that it takes more than seeds to grow bacon!

My favorite thing about driving along a highway is getting a sense of how vast our country is. I’ll never forget the first road trip I ever took from San Fransisco to Las Vegas. The journey through the desert felt like an adventure, and I still get a sense of that every time I go on a long trip.
