14 Jun 23-Year-Old Looks Unrecognizable After Spending $10,000 On “Tattoo Addiction”

Fans of body modification often say that if the body is a temple, why not decorate the walls? After all, we live in an age where tattoos are no longer reserved for criminals. They’re now a part of popular culture, and in 2018, one-in-five American adults have an inking.

Speaking as a part of this statistic, I can attest to the power of tattoos and piercings. They’ve made me feel more confident in my appearance – although, compared to 23-year-old Amber Luke’s body modifications, my five tattoos and four piercings are nothing.

Now known as a “Blue Eyes White Dragon” (the powerful Yi-Gi-Oh card) by her friends and family, Amber’s journey into the world of body modifications began when she was a bright-eyed and blonde-haired 16-year-old. Despite being extremely beautiful, Amber hated her “boring” and “plain” appearance.

Fast forward seven years, and the blonde looks unrecognizable after spending a whopping $10,000 on more than 50 tattoos and various body modification procedures – including a split tongue! What’s more is that the industry also pays her bills as she works as a body piercer.

Speaking about her transformation from the girl next door to “Blue Eyes White Dragon”, Amber said, “I developed an addiction at 16 years of age.”

This happened when Amber began to wonder what getting a tattoo felt like, and by the time she was 18 (and finally old enough to legally get a tattoo), she already had three inkings. However, what no one could have anticipated then was her addiction putting her life in danger…

Amber’s nickname “Blue Eyes White Dragon” isn’t because she’s simply got blue eyes. Oh-no. The 23-year-old decided to risk permanently losing her sight (and potentially her life) by having the whites of her eyes tattooed in one of the most dangerous body modification procedures around.

Amber said that the 40-minute procedure was “very painful”, and once it was over, she was unable to see properly for three weeks.

Thankfully, she suffered no lasting damage to her sight as a result of her risky decision.

Anyone who has ever gotten a body modification knows that they risk being subject to much criticism, especially from the older generation and their parents, but Amber said that her family and friends have been very supportive of her transformation.

“I have plenty of people who try to bring me down because of the choices I’ve made to my body, but that’s just it; it’s my body,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

“I also have a lot of positivity surrounding my image. People are often fascinated rather [than] discriminatory towards me.”

Amber shared a picture of her split tongue on Instagram. The procedure itself is estimated to have cost between $1,500 and $2,500.

In addition to having her tongue split, Amber had her ears surgically pointed – presumably to look more like an elf.

The 23-year-old has no plans to stop modifying her body either. Her latest plans include having her teeth sharpened into “vampire teeth” and getting another inking on her right leg.

While Amber’s appearance might not be to everyone’s liking, the 23-year-old appears to be very content with her decisions, and more power to her for that! You keep doing you, Amber.
