Yesterday, the time came around for another Academy Awards Ceremony, hosted this time by Jimmy Kimmel.

As soon as the nominations were announced back in January, critics all over the world were speculating that the awards would be flooding in for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. 

But ultimately, we all knew it would be another compellingly competitive night and well worth the watch.

Now many of the actors in attendance at the 90th annual Academy Awards ceremony have been in show business for a long time and look strikingly different now to how they looked at their very first Oscars. I mean, Meryl Streep’s first Oscar nomination was a whopping 39 years ago!

So without further ado, here are the most shocking before and after photos of actors at their very first Oscars compared to now.

1. Angelina Jolie — 1986

In 1986, when she was only 11 years old, Angelina Jolie attended her very first Oscars. Her beautiful and very elaborate white dress totally made her the star of the night. Jolie was there to support her father Jon Voight and 13 years later, Jolie received her first Oscar nomination (Best Supporting Actress) for Girl, Interrupted in 1999.

2. Nicole Kidman — 1991

Possibly Kidman’s most famous movie, Moulin Rouge! was nominated for eight Oscars in 2001 and ended up winning two: the Academy Award for Best Art Direction and the Academy Award for Best Costume Design. Kidman was also nominated for Best Actress.
