In those more conservative days of yore, the values that vast swathes of the world’s population adhere to, of acceptance and tolerance, might have seemed an unattainable utopia to those who were forced to live a huge part of their lives – their sexuality – in secret.

Clearly though, the act of “coming out” is still a nerve-wracking one for many, and regrettably, there are still those who hold archaic views towards LGBT issues that have no place in a progressive culture.
