Using a dating app can often be a pretty disheartening experience. If you’re someone who spends a lot of time fruitlessly swiping in a desperate search for a date, then sometimes it can be pretty depressing to see how generic and homogenous a lot of modern dating profiles are.
Eventually everyone seems to just blend into one another, and you feel like you’re seeing the same things crop up time and time again: the same tiresome, worn-out clichés appear in Tinder bios and the same bland Instagram filters.
Everyone is so samey: they all have a picture of themselves hiking, a snapshot of them on holiday, maybe a picture of them with a dog just to rake in some animal lovers, and maybe one in the gym. Personally I always get annoyed when people mention they like food; it just seems like a waste of breath to even mention it in a dating profile. After all, what human being doesn’t like food?
But I’m not the only guy out there who’s grown disillusioned with the dating profiles of some of the people I’m swiping. This week an AskReddit thread asked men what the biggest dealbreakers were on dating profiles were, and the answers were pretty intriguing. Are you guilty of any of these?
