13-Year-Old Girl Won The Right To Die, 9 Years Later She’s Graduating From University

A schoolgirl who was diagnosed with cancer and heart disease at a young age has graduated from university after having a change of heart regarding her right to die. Hannah Jones, now 22, was 13 when she went to court to claim her right to die after she had refused a heart transplant.

Hannah’s statement that she would rather live her last days in peace and die, than undergo more hospital surgery, shocked the world at the time. However, the 22 year-old has now graduated with a 2:2 degree in English and Drama from Aberystwyth University and says that she has no regrets about any of her decisions in the past.

Hannah made headline news nine years ago when she fended off a legal bid by medics that were trying to force her to have treatment for her heart failure. Her local hospital began High Court proceedings to try and remove her from her parents’ custody, in order to allow the heart transplant to go ahead. But, after Hannah pleaded her case to a child protection office, Hereford Hospital decided to back down.
